The Work

Embody Lib served as the Keynote Speaker for the SNAP-Ed Choices Conference, delivering a talk on Deconstructing, Reclaiming, and Rebuilding Nutrition Education. The keynote invited practitioners to critically examine dominant narratives in nutrition education and consider more equitable, community-responsive approaches.

Following the conference, Embody Lib partnered with Michigan Fitness Foundation to design and facilitate two learning sessions as part of SNAP-Ed University, supporting practitioners in moving from theory to application.

Sessions

  • Culturally Competent vs. Culturally Responsive Practice (60-minute facilitated discussion)

  • From Insight to Action: Synthesizing Learning for Practice (90-minute guided application session)

Outcomes & Impact

  • Supported practitioners in distinguishing between cultural competence and cultural responsiveness

  • Strengthened participants’ ability to apply equity-centered practices in SNAP-Ed programming

  • Created space for reflection, synthesis, and action planning across diverse roles
